Sustainable viticulture

“Protecting our terroirs and their biodiversity is a major challenge, and changing our practices is a priority. Remaining at the forefront of innovation in the vineyard is essential to the sustainability of our business. “Gabriel Ruetsch, Head Agronomist, Les Vignobles Foncalieu. We have been committed to sustainable viticulture since 2008. 65% of the vineyard is now HVE (High Environmental Value) level 3 certified.

How? By protecting biodiversity, reducing inputs to aim for zero pesticide residues in wines, and rational management of fertilization and irrigation,” sums up Gabriel Ruetsch. 88% of our acreage holds agri-environmental certification: HVE, BIO, Terra Vitis. Most of our vintages are Eve Vegan. Over 50% of vineyards use sexual confusion to limit inputs.

Innovation in the vineyard

For more than 60 years, Les Vignobles Foncalieu have been going from strength to strength. We have been able to renew and reinvent ourselves by placing innovation at the heart of our vision. Innovation in the vineyard and in the cellar, ensuring that we remain at the cutting edge of technology to offer you the highest-quality wines possible. Innovation at the heart of the company’s life cycle, from upstream to downstream, from marketing concept to transport, to continue building a more virtuous company.

  • Vignobles Foncalieu was the first winery to produce and market a wine made from new French varieties after more than 10 years of experimentation in our vineyards: NU.VO.TE.
  • L’Atelier Prestige: an atypical approach in a cooperative winery, with micro-cuvées selected by plot and a dedicated ageing cellar.

Committed to tomorrow

Vignobles Foncalieu is certified by AFNOR to the highest level of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). This approach aims to make our union socially, economically and environmentally sustainable. It involves all the cooperative’s stakeholders and affirms our determination to take concrete action to build the Vignobles Foncalieu of tomorrow. At head office, 88% of waste is recycled. We were one of the first in France to develop a range, NU.VO.TE, made from grape varieties naturally resistant to climatic challenges. 83% of our vineyards have agro-environmental certification.
